Is “Red Dead Online” Cross-Platform?

Red Dead Online is a multiplayer mode of Red Dead Redemption 2. The game launched on November 27, 2018, and is playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

However, Red Dead Online is not cross-platform; you can only play with other players who have the same console as you do, including PC users (although there are no plans for a PC release). This blog post will provide the “Red Dead Online” cross-platform information. Also, it will tell you about how many platforms “Red Dead Online” released for.

What is Red Dead Online?

Red Dead Online is a multiplayer feature of Red Dead Redemption 2, made and published by Rockstar Games. It can be played on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can customize your character’s appearance and clothing when playing Red Dead Online. Their appearance includes gender, hairstyle, clothes, and more.

You can also choose how they look when they enter a fight or get injured by selecting options like “healthier-looking skin” or “less blood on my face” on the character customization menu.

It was released as a beta version in November 2018 and then again as a standalone game in December 2019. It is essentially the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2’s story mode; you can play in free roam or missions. It has its own currency system that lets you buy clothes, guns, and horses.

It’s an expansive world where you’ll get to play with your friends or against them. You can go exploring or participate in missions together with other players across the vast world of Red Dead Redemption 2 once you’ve completed the original game’s story mode.

Is “Red Dead Online” Cross-Platform?

At this time, “Red Dead Online” is only available on consoles and PC. Players on the same platform can play together, but there is no option for cross-platform play. That means “Red Dead Online” is not cross-platform.

You can pick up the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but you will only be able to play with other players who have that same platform. For example, if your friend has an Xbox One and you have a PlayStation 4, you won’t be able to play together in “Red Dead Online.”

In addition to this cross-platform issue with playing across platforms and consoles, the Nintendo Switch version of the game is also separate from all other versions. You can’t play with people playing on other gaming systems—you’d need to communicate through voice chat or text messages instead.

Conclusion

While many aspects of Red Dead Online are still being ironed out, it’s clear that the game will not be cross-platform. For now, you’ll need to use a PC or PlayStation 4 if you want to play with your friends who use the other system.

Red Dead Online will continue to be updated progressively, so here’s hoping that more modes and multiplayer options will be made available soon!
