Is “DayZ” Cross-Platform?

Dayz is an early access open-world survival video game developed by Bohemia Interactive. After the original release, Dayz sold over three million copies on Steam and Xbox One, making it one of the best-selling titles on the platform.

While it may seem odd to ask if a video game is cross-platform or not, many are wondering if Dayz will ever be cross-platform? The short answer is no, Dayz isn’t cross-platform right now, but it may become so in the future. Many people have a concern about whether or not Dayz can be played on other platforms, so let’s talk about that in this blog post!

What is “DayZ”?

You might not have heard of DayZ yet; it’s a video game in a fictional country called Chernarus and has been highly rated by customers. It is one of the most popular games on Steam and has a monthly average of one million players. Bohemia Interactive developed the game.

You start off in an abandoned area of Chernarus (a fictional country). You have to scavenge for supplies and food while avoiding zombies, bandits, and other survivors trying to kill you for your gear.

Everything about “DayZ” is realistic: The graphics resemble an actual open world environment; weapons require reloading when fired; there are no quick health regeneration systems, etc. You can also build structures such as tents out of materials found worldwide!

Is “DayZ” Cross-Platform?

Unfortunately, DayZ is not currently cross-platform. The game is now available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation. Because of the nature of its gameplay, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to have a great experience playing on different platforms.

For example, suppose you’re playing on a console, and your friend is playing on a PC. In that case, your aiming accuracy will be far from perfect because console and PC aim has a massive accuracy gap at long ranges and inside bushes.

The same would happen if you were playing together but were using different input methods—a mouse vs. a controller will affect how well you can aim at someone running away from you quickly.

Maybe developers want to keep the game fair. They need to keep the game on the same server. They want players to play against each other, not against bots or cheaters. This is why they are not adding this feature.

If you could play Dayz with friends who have different operating systems, it would be easier for hackers and cheaters to infiltrate your game and ruin your experience.

Conclusion

So, there you have it. DayZ’s team has yet to confirm any plans for a cross-platform release. Still, the inclusion of support for console players shows that this is very likely to be added in a future patch. Hopefully, we will see DayZ make its way to other platforms.
