Catfish Stardew Valley

Catching Catfish in Stardew Valley is one of the skills you can level up to maximize profit in Pelican Town. As you perfect your fishing skills, more rewards will follow. But you will also be making a difference by promoting solidarity and helping villagers solve personal and community-wide problems. We have put together this article to help you get the best out of Catfish in Stardew Valley.

Catfish in Stardew Valley have an average difficulty level and basic behavior. Catching it isn’t difficult if you have the right equipment, but you need to level up to profit from it. In the early game, you will rely on Fiberglass and Bait. But from level 6, buy or craft an Iridium rod that will enable you to fish using Bait and Tackle.

How to Find Catfish in Stardew Valley

Catfish can be found in Pelican Town and Cindersap Forest Rivers, Secret Wood Pond, and Witch’s Swamp on a rainy day during spring or fall. You can also find Catfish in Riverlands Farm and Hill-top Farm in spring and fall during rainy weather.

It is also possible to find catfish in summer but only in the Secret Woods and Witch’s Swamp.

Catfish can be found at any time, except in the Witch’s Swamp, where it can only be found between 6 am and 12 am.

Catfish can be purchased from the Travelling Cart on Sundays and Fridays. This is not a viable option because the Cart stocks Catfish occasionally, and prices are exorbitant (600g -900g)

Unlocking Fishing

You will be able to unlock fishing on day 2 when you receive an invitation letter from Willy. He will give you a Bamboo pole, which will be your first fishing equipment. The fishing mini-game has 10 levels to explore, each with different perks and milestones.

Equipment for Catching Catfish

Going by its difficulty rating and behavior, Catching catfish in Stardew valley is not complicated if you have the right equipment.

Fiberglass and Bait

Fiberglass and Bait will work just fine at the beginning. But you should aspire to unlock the Iridium rod, which will allow you to use both Bait and Tackle. Before you unlock Iridium, use Fiberglass and a Magic Bait because it can catch catfish regardless of weather, season, or time.

Bait decreases the time it takes fish to bite and enables you to catch fish faster. There are different types of Bait at your disposal, including Bait, Magnet, and Wild Bait. Try the Wild Bait because it can grant you a double catch.

Iridium rod and Tackle

Tackle is equipment that makes fishing simpler and improves the quality of the catch. You can use different types of tackles, including Barbed Hook, Cork Bobber, Dressed Spinner, and Trap Bobber.

Tackle is most suited for catching rare and challenging fish to catch, like the legendary fish. But a Tackle such as Barbed Hook will secure your catch by causing the Catfish to cling to your rod.

Equipment for fishing Catfish can be bought, crafted, or earned by improving fishing skills or solving a problem in the community.

Catfish Stardew Valley Uses

Catfish can be used in various ways to make money or earn rewards in Stardew valley. You can complete Quests, make Recipes, complete community center, etc. You can also consume it for health and energy, and if you like, you can start a fishpond.

There is no specific Quest for Catfish in Stardew Valley. But that doesn’t rule out the possibility of finding one on the “Help Wanted Board” outside Pierre’s General Store. This task has a reward of 600g and 150 Friendship Points.

Recipes

Making Recipes is probably not the best use for Catfish because Recipes can be made with more common fish that are easier to catch. Also, catfish is not ideal for gifting because just one resident likes it.

You can donate catfish to complete the River Fish Bundle within the community center’s Fish Tank. This is arguably the most fulfilling use of catfish in Stardew valley. You will be rewarded with 30x Bait for your gesture.

Fishing Catfish in Stardew Valley can be very exciting and rewarding. To maximize profit from catfish, level up and become a Fisher or an Angler. Your catch will fetch much more as a Fisher or Angler. And in level 6, you will be able to unlock the Iridium rod and Tackle for more aggressive fishing.

One of the most rewarding things in the fishing mini-game is to complete the River Fish bundle of the community Centre. Achieving the milestone is refreshing, and the 30x Bait reward allows you to fish more without worrying about Bait.
