New players will find fishing Sturgeon challenging, but even old players must put their act together to reel it in successfully. You’re at the right place if you want to know how to get the best out of Sturgeon in Stardew Valley.

Fishing Sturgeon is complicated but achievable. To reel in Sturgeon, You have to know when, where, and how to fish. And your equipment must be on point. Iridium rod, Bait, and Trap Bobber will come in handy. Level up your skills because the tools are unlocked in level 6. Knowing some tips and tricks will also make your life easier.

In Stardew Valley, fish is classified according to their quality. These include normal, silver, gold, and iridium. Each quality level has its price tag, whereby the lowest price is Normal, and the highest is iridium. Sturgeon can be sold at 200g normal, 250g silver, 300g gold, and 400g iridium.

Where to Find a Sturgeon Fish

Sturgeon is mainly found on Mountain Lake. The Mountain Lake is located north of Pelican Town, east of Linus’ camp, in the upper right-hand corner of the map.

This fish can be found in summer and winter only and can be caught between 6 am and 7 pm. It is least common during rainy winter days and most common on rainy summer days. It constitutes between 11% and 18% of all the fish caught on rainy summer days.

It may occasionally appear in Krobus shop on Wednesday for 200g and at the Travelling Cart. But the prices of the Travelling Cart are over the roof (from 600g – 1000g)

How to Catch Sturgeon Fish in Stardew Valley

Catching Sturgeon can be tricky and complicated but still possible with the right tools and timing. Be mindful of the time of day and seasons when planning your fishing.

To increase your chances of catching Sturgeon, you have to cast further ashore. Unfortunately, you can’t cast your line further if you have not leveled up your skills.

You will need an Iridium fishing rod, a Tackle, and Bait. Don’t use a training rod because it won’t catch Sturgeon.

Pro Tips for Catching Sturgeon

The best tackle to effectively reeling in Sturgeon is Cork Bobber and Trap Bobber. Cork Bobber and Trap Bobber go for 750g and 500g, respectively.

Raise the quality of your fish by getting a perfect catch. A perfect catch is where you keep the Sturgeon within the fishing bar throughout the fishing mini-game.

To remove the seasonality and time restrictions on Fishing Sturgeon, use a Magic Bait.

Use a rain totem if you want Sturgeon to appear in summer. This is ideal if you want to complete the Community Center Bundles, but there is no rain.

Uses of Sturgeon in Stardew Valley

Gifts

Gifting is probably not the best way to use your Sturgeon catch. This is because; only Willy can accept Sturgeon as a gift in Pelican Town. Demetrius, Elliot, Leo, Linus, Pam, and Sebastian are neutral, while Evelyn, Haley, and Pierre hate it.

Recipes

Sturgeon can be used to make recipes such as Maki Roll, Quality Fertilizer, and Sashimi. However, this is pointless because only Maki Roll sells above the price of standard fish. The rest are way cheaper than the cost of the actual fish.

Community Centre Bundles

If you have not completed the Lake Fish Bundle, you can use your Stardew catch to achieve this milestone. You will be awarded a Tackle called Dressed Spinner. It reduces the maximum delay before a nibble by 7.5 seconds.

Fishpond

With 1 Sturgeon, you can start a fish bond. The limit is 1 at the beginning, but it can increase to 10 when you complete 4 quests. Fish in the pond reproduce every 4 days. Fish Pond is usually not the best way to use your precious catch because Sturgeon Roe only fetches 130g.

However, if you are patient enough, you can put it into a Preserves Jar to make Caviar which sells at 500g and above.

Tailoring

It can be used to create a fishing vest in the Spool of Sewing Machine.

Health and Energy

Sturgeon can be consumed for energy and health.

Conclusion

Fishing Sturgeon is a vital skill because of its benefits. It is extremely rare, so you need to be alert. The tools that can help you catch Sturgeon effectively are unlocked from level 6 onwards. This means leveling up your skill is vital if you want to get the best from Fishing Sturgeon.

Because it’s the most expensive non-legendary fish, you can make a good profit if you perfect your fishing. Sturgeon is also needed for the Community Center Bundle, so completing the milestone sooner is advisable.

Note that there are many things that Sturgeon can do, but not all of them add value to your game. It’s, therefore, essential to assess the available options before you trade. But this largely depends on what you enjoy doing and the fulfillment you derive from an activity.
